FUJITSU GENERAL AMERICA, INC.'S NEW
42-INCH P42VHA20 PLASMAVISION SLIMSCREEN® DISPLAY PROVIDES EXCEPTIONAL PERFORMANCE AND VALUE AS NEVER BEFORE

FAIRFIELD, NJ—Fujitsu, the leader in plasma display technology, today announced the introduction of its next-generation 42-inch widescreen (16:9) Plasmavision SlimScreen monitor, the P42VHA20. Incorporating a host of Fujitsu’s latest technologies, shared with the company’s recently introduced 50-inch P50XHA10 and 42-inch P42HHA10 monitors, the new, redesigned P42VHA20 plasma display features improved picture quality with increased brightness from previous comparable models, as well as a wider variety of features including a DVI-D digital input with HDCP.

Tedd Rozylowicz, Fujitsu General Senior Vice President noted, “Not only does our P42VHA20 bring Fujitsu Plasmavision performance to a more competitive price point than ever before, it also offers improved image quality and connectivity—making it the undisputed leader in its category. Thanks to the P42VHA20, more consumers than ever before can now step up to the exceptional picture quality that only a Fujitsu Plasmavision monitor can deliver.”

The P42VHA20: Performance and Value In A Stylish Package

The Fujitsu Plasmavision Slimscreen P42VHA20 is engineered for superior image quality in every respect. It features an advanced-technology 852 x 480 pixel panel that yields a high 700 cd/m2 brightness and remarkable 3000:1 contrast ratio, for highly accurate color and grayscale reproduction and vivid picture quality.

Designed for maximum home theater versatility, the P42VHA20 can display the output from virtually any video source, is compatible with 1080i and 720p HDTV and 480p signals from a DTV set-top box, and like all Fujitsu Plasmavision models, features the company’s exclusive AVM (Advanced Video Movement) digital video processor to assure the best-possible picture performance from any video source.

The AVM (Advanced Video Movement) processor virtually eliminates motion artifacts and flicker, improves vertical resolution and reproduces natural movement with ease. In addition, the processor’s built-in line doubler converts NTSC signals and uses different types of processing for moving and still pictures, yielding smoother images with more natural movement and without visible scan lines.

The P42VHA20 is the perfect Convergent Visual Medium that is compatible with the widest variety of digital and analog video sources as well as the video output from a computer. A key enhancement to the monitor’s connectivity is the inclusion of a DVI-D digital video input with HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection). This connection enables best-quality reception of all digital television broadcasts including copy-protected broadcasts, with direct digital input of high-definition television signals. In addition, the P42VHA20 provides a full suite of A/V inputs including two component video inputs, S-video, composite video and analog RGB video inputs, plus stereo audio inputs.

The P42VHA20 also features an RS-232C control port for integrated system operation and offers a wider range of picture adjustments, accessible via its on-screen menu and newly redesigned, easier to use ergonomic remote control. In addition, the controls on the monitor itself have been relocated to the right front edge for easier access, and are styled to discreetly blend with the P42VHA20’s appearance.

The monitor’s versatility is further enhanced by a built-in 10-watt stereo amplifier with external speaker outputs (optional matching speakers are available) and volume, treble, bass and balance controls. In addition, it is FCC Class B certified for residential use, conforming to the standards that limit the amount of interference (RFI) a digital device is allowed to generate, to assure maximum compatibility with the other components in a home theater system.

In common with Fujitsu’s latest Plasmavision monitors, the P42VHA20 is newly restyled for a more elegant appearance. The front bezel that frames the display panel features crisper, more defined corners and angles, for a sleek, yet refined look. The chassis color is a lighter shade of metallic silver, to complement a wider range of decors and home entertainment systems. The ultra-slim P42VHA20 measures just over three inches deep, facilitating wall-, ceiling- or stand-mounting in custom installation environments.

The Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen P42VHA20 carries a suggested retail price of $4,999 and is currently available.

Fujitsu’s Innovative History

Research and development beginning in the 1960’s produced breakthroughs that led to the first color plasma display in 1993, followed by Fujitsu’s first 42-inch plasma display in 1996. The monitor offered an alternative and superior solution from traditional CRT displays, by providing a thin, lightweight display with features such as a viewing angle of 160 degrees and a widescreen aspect ratio.

In addition to the introduction of its first 42-inch plasma display monitor, Fujitsu also worked towards the development of the first plasma digital video processor. The processor enabled Fujitsu to manufacture and introduce the first-ever HD (high-definition) plasma monitor in 1999. Fujitsu’s subsequent developments in digital video processing led to the creation of the single-chip AVM (Advanced Video Movement) digital processor, currently included in all Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors.

Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors offer versatility for a wide variety of environments, from home theaters to commercial installations. Delivering powerful big-screen impact yet measuring only a few inches in depth, Plasmavision monitors are designed to outperform all other plasma displays in their respective categories, providing dramatically higher brightness and contrast along with ease of operation. The current lineup of Fujitsu plasma displays offers a host of advanced performance features, along with elegant styling and unparalleled installation flexibility.

Recently, Fujitsu’s was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Emmy® Award. The award was in recognition of Fujitsu’s long history of technological innovation in the field of plasma display development.
