FUJITSU GENERAL AMERICA, INC. INTRODUCES NEW
PLASMAVISION MONITORS FOR THE COMMERCIAL MARKET
– New 50-Inch and 42-Inch Models
Offer Improved Image Quality and Installation Flexibility
FAIRFIELD, NJ—Fujitsu,
the leader in plasma display technology, today announced the introduction
of three new widescreen (16:9) Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors
designed for the commercial market. The ultimate-performance 50-inch
P50XCA11 and 42-inch P42HCA11, and 42-inch P42VCA21 are completely
redesigned from previous models to provide improved image quality
with higher brightness and contrast, along with a host of useful
features that make them ideal for use in commercial installations.
The new Plasmavision monitors will
be on exhibit at the upcoming NSCA (National Systems Contractors
Association) 2003 Systems Integration Expo, in Booth 2617 at the
Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, TX, March 13 – 15.
Tedd Rozylowicz, Fujitsu General
Senior Vice President, pointed out: “In recent years, plasma
monitors have become so popular that you almost can’t go anywhere
without seeing one—and Fujitsu is meeting the demand with
our newest Plasmavision models, engineered to meet the specific
requirements of the commercial market. In addition to exceptional
image quality, Plasmavision monitors are engineered for unshakable
reliability—making them ideal for use in installations where
superior performance under the most rigorous conditions of long-term
use is an essential requirement.”
Unsurpassed Plasma Performance
and Installation Flexibility
Fujitsu’s new line of high-performance
plasma monitors offer solutions for commercial applications such
as digital signage and video conferencing. They are designed to
deliver superlative image quality in every respect, along with unmatched
installation flexibility.
All three models incorporate Fujitsu’s
latest plasma technologies, including the company’s exclusive
AVM (Advanced Video Movement) advanced digital video processor.
The processor virtually eliminates motion artifacts and flicker,
improves vertical resolution and reproduces natural movement with
ease. In addition, the processor’s built-in line doubler converts
NTSC signals and uses different types of processing for moving and
still pictures, yielding smoother images without visible scan lines.
Image quality is further refined by Fujitsu’s advanced digital
comb filter for both NTSC and PAL sources, and other leading-edge
video display technologies. All three monitors’ video circuitry
is optimized for the characteristics of their respective plasma
panels, to yield the best-possible image quality from any video
source.
Offering flexible Convergent Visual
Medium™ display versatility, all three Plasmavision monitors
can display the output from a wide variety of video sources including
the video output from a computer, and are compatible with virtually
all NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats. All models deliver exceptionally
clear, sharp and vivid image quality with accurate color and grayscale
reproduction, even in brightly lit environments. The P50XCA11, P42HCA11
and P42VCA21 all include two sets of analog RGB inputs (15-pin and
BNC) for ready connection to commercial audio/video systems, plus
an expansion slot to accept an optional video card for additional
connectivity. Each monitor includes an RS-232C control port for
integrated system operation with third-party controllers.
Each model features a built-in 10
x 10 watt stereo amplifier with volume, treble, bass and balance
controls plus external speaker outputs, facilitating their use with
optional matching external speakers as part of a stand-alone multimedia
installation. All the monitors provide a comprehensive selection
of picture adjustment and calibration options to achieve optimum
image quality, accessible via the monitors’ on-screen menus
and remote controls.
To conserve energy and assure years
of trouble-free operation, the P50XCA11, P42HCA11 and P42VCA21 incorporate
Fujitsu’s DPMS (Display Power Management Function), which
turns the display on and off when a signal is present or absent.
In addition, they feature a screen saver function that automatically
shifts the images at regular intervals, avoiding the “screen
burn” that can sometimes occur when bright, fixed images such
as text are displayed in the same pixel area for long periods of
time.
Following is a brief look at the
new Plasmavision monitors:
The P50XCA11: Big-Screen

Fujitsu’s Innovative
History
Research and development beginning
in the 1960’s produced breakthroughs that led to the first
color plasma display in 1993, followed by Fujitsu’s first
42-inch plasma display in 1996. The monitor offered an alternative
and superior solution from traditional CRT displays, by providing
a thin, lightweight display with features such as a viewing angle
of 160 degrees and a widescreen aspect ratio.
In addition to the introduction of
its first 42-inch plasma display monitor, Fujitsu also worked towards
the development of the first plasma digital video processor. The
processor enabled Fujitsu to manufacture and introduce the first-ever
HD (high-definition) plasma monitor in 1999. Fujitsu’s subsequent
developments in digital video processing led to the creation of
the single-chip AVM (Advanced Video Movement) digital processor,
currently included in all Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors.
Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors
offer versatility for a wide variety of environments, from home
theaters to commercial installations. Delivering powerful big-screen
impact yet measuring only a few inches in depth, Plasmavision monitors
are designed to outperform all other plasma displays in their respective
categories, providing dramatically higher brightness and contrast
along with ease of operation. The current lineup of Fujitsu plasma
displays offers a host of advanced performance features, along with
elegant styling and unparalleled installation flexibility.
Recently, Fujitsu’s was honored
by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the
prestigious Emmy® Award. The award was in recognition of Fujitsu’s
long history of technological innovation in the field of plasma
display development.
